Historic $5M Gift and Naming of SET
To the Campus Community:
It is our pleasure to share news of an historic gift to 51³Ô¹Ï
– a $5 million commitment by FSC alumnus, engineer, entrepreneur, and friend, Murray
Pasternack ’60. The largest ever gift to FSC, as well as among SUNY technology colleges,
this generous donation will support a minimum of 56 students in the School of Engineering
Technology with four-year scholarships across all 15 majors. In addition to student
programming, mentorship and co-curricular resources, it is designed to help attract,
retain, and empower students who are less likely to pursue careers in computing, engineering,
and technology.
Mr. Pasternack, who founded Pasternack Enterprises as a radio frequency engineer,
is now the largest individual donor to the College, in both a single largest gift
and in total giving. He has donated a total of $8.2 million in personal philanthropy
in the last four years. In recognition of this historic gift, his ongoing support
of our College and our students, and his all-time giving to academic programming campus-wide,
FSC will name our engineering technology school in his honor, as The Murray Pasternack
School of Engineering Technology, approved today by the SUNY Board of Trustees.
Recent impacts of Mr. Pasternack’s generosity across campus include our student-managed investment fund, the state-of-the-art trading room in the School of Business in 2024, and the radio frequency and microwave technology lab in Lupton Hall in 2023, in addition to funding the launch of the Honors Program at FSC in 2022.
Mr. Pasternack, a longtime friend of 51³Ô¹Ï, continues to recognize
the remarkable potential of our students. This investment is a tremendous statement
of confidence in the programs, faculty, and staff in engineering and across our campus.
Please join us in proudly sharing this historic moment and celebrating the impact
Murray's generosity and commitment will have on countless students in the years to
come.
