Rambo's Rundown
A Message from Dr. Ron Jackson

I hope you had a chance to rest, recharge, or even catch up on your coursework during the recent closing. With fall now fully here, the semester is moving quickly, and it’s natural to feel some academic pressure or even experience homesickness and loneliness. Please know that you are not alone in these feelings—many students go through the same challenges. What matters most is that you take care of yourself and reach out for support when you need it.

Farmingdale has many resources available to help you stay on track. Campus Mental Health Services is here to support you with in-person appointments and telehealth options in certain situations. They can be reached by phone at 934-420-2006 or by email at cmhs@farmingdale.edu. Our Health and Wellness Center also provides a wide variety of services to help you maintain your overall health and well-being.

Academically, remember that your faculty members are valuable partners in your success. Don’t hesitate to connect with them during office hours and ask for guidance if you are struggling in class. In addition, free tutoring is available through the Center for Academic Success & Tutoring (CAST), which can be an excellent way to strengthen your understanding and build confidence in your coursework.

This is the perfect time to address any challenges you may be facing so that you can set yourself up for a strong finish to the semester. Remember, you’ve got this, Rams—and we are here to help every step of the way.

Interested in starting a new student organization for Spring 2026?

Applications will be open November 1 – December 1! To apply, complete the online application . You’ll need to create a constitution and submit a roster of at least 10 current FSC students. Applications will be reviewed starting mid-December, and a staff member from the Office of Student Activities (OSA) will guide you through the process of getting your organization up and running.

Two quick notes:

  • Please check for a complete list of student organizations as organizations with similar missions will not be approved.

  • If you think the organization was active within the last 3 semesters- please contact OSA as you will not need to complete the new organization application. If an organization hasn't been active since Spring 2024, you will need to complete the full new organization application process.
Featured Students
Maria Cardenas-Crespo
Maria Cardenas-Crespo

Maria is not your average college junior. While spending time in the Farmingdale student veterans’ lounge with a friend, she was exposed to the idea of service to nation and state. Inspired by these friends and counseled by Director of Veterans Services Eric Farina, Maria approached a New York Air National Guard recruiter.

Working with her professors last semester, Maria was able to take her final exams early and she reported to Air Force Basic Training on April 29. After an interesting and very hot summer in Texas she returned to Farmingdale on Friday September 12.

Airman 1st Class Cardenas-Crespo is now a freshly
-minted Air National Guard Dental Assistant with the 174th Attack Wing’s medical detachment. The dedicated airman will travel at her own cost all the way to Hancock Air Reserve Base in Syracuse, NY one weekend each month and two weeks each year for annual training.

She might be slightly behind the 8-
ball by returning two weeks into the semester, but with a 3.4 GPA it won’t be too tough for a hard worker like Maria to catch up to her civilian classmates. If you see Maria roaming the campus, welcome her back to FSC!
