Jaime Hartless received her PhD from the University of Virginia in 2019. She worked briefly as a Lecturer at the University of Dayton before joining the 51³Ô¹Ï Sociology & Anthropology Department as an Assistant Professor in 2020. She currently serves as the Coordinator of the Women, Gender, & Sexuality Studies Minor and IRB Chair. Her research is located at the intersection of gender, sexuality, culture, and social movements. Her current book manuscript, under contract with NYU Press, explores the politics of allyship and intersectionality in LGBTQ+ and feminist social movement organizations. She has also published reasearch on the negotiation of straight people in LGBTQ+ bars, the utility of using horror to teach sexualities, and what the figure of the 'witch' can teach us about our changing understandings of gender. She is currently working on multiple research projects, including an analysis of attempts to ban police at Pride events and a digital ethnography of lesbian fans of Drag Race-related content.
