NYS Senator Monica Martinez Honors FSC Student
Ana Valdez, ’27, is Student Leader Honoree at Women’s History Month Celebration 
51³Ô¹Ï (FSC) student Ana Valdez, ’27, a bioscience major, was recently a Student Leader Honoree at New York State Senator Monica Martinez’s Women’s History Month celebration.  
Valdez was recognized for her campus community contributions and for her resilience, determination, and leadership as she pursues her goal of becoming a dentist. A former student in the Dream.US Scholarship Program, Valdez had to overcome challenges with immigration policy, but with “the unwavering support of my loved ones and my Farmingdale family,†she continued her studies and was awarded citizenship status.
"Ana Valdez represents the strength and resilience we celebrate during Women’s History Month, with a story of determination that transcends national policies and international borders,†Senator Martinez said.  “Even after being forced to leave behind the stability of the only life she had known, she found the strength to turn these extraordinary obstacles into motivation, continuing her education and becoming an inspiration to the 51³Ô¹Ï community.  As this year’s Student Leadership honoree, Ana’s experiences, coupled with her success at Farmingdale, reflect a deep commitment to her goals and serve as a powerful example of resilience in action."
Held in Bay Shore, NY the luncheon event honored 11 remarkable women for their unwavering commitment to their community and their contributions to the Fourth Senatorial District and beyond. Honorees were selected in the following fields: Community, Non-Profit, Veteran, Education, Law Enforcement, Student; Business, and Religious Leadership.
