Expanding Expertise

FSC Welcomes New Faculty Members Across Campus

51Թ’s (FSC) campus community has grown by 27 new faculty members, including 18 assistant professors, 7 lecturers and two visiting assistant professors, in support of its esteemed academic programs. The respected faculty additions will strengthen numerous disciplines across FSC’s School of Business, Santmann School of Health Sciences, Pasternack School of Engineering Technology, and School of Arts and Sciences.

“We are pleased to welcome our newest faculty members to campus,” said Senior Vice President and Provost Sean Lane, PhD. “Their arrival marks the beginning of an exciting year ahead, and we are thrilled that our community will benefit from their passion and scholarly expertise."

Since 2016, the number of our full-time faculty has increased 35% overall, “reflecting an investment in quality instruction on the part of the College,” said Assistant Provost Christopher LaBarbera, PhD, who recently cohosted a New Faculty Orientation event in Greenley Library alongside Jennifer Jaiswal, director of FSC's Faculty Center. FSC’s current faculty-to-student ratio is 18-1.

“Our new faculty orientation is one of our most exciting events to start the year, as we get to greet our new cohort of full-time professors and share in their excitement about teaching a new generation of students,” said LaBarbera. “Our orientation and New Faculty Mentoring Program allows our newest faculty members to learn about the college, ask questions of their peers and mentors, and support their professional growth to make a lasting impact here at Farmingdale. It is wonderful to have the forum for faculty development through the dedicated work of our Faculty Center Director, Jennifer Jaiswal, and it is the greatest pleasure to welcome this new talent to FSC,” he added.

“The faculty orientation was a rousing success,” said Lane. “Dr. Christopher LaBarbera and Jennifer Jaiswal did an outstanding job creating and leading the program.  The energy and enthusiasm in the room were unmistakable, and I am looking forward to seeing all that our new faculty will accomplish.”
