Paul Caroleo

Paul Caroleo graduated from Ithaca College with a B.S. degree in 1978 and embarked on his dream vocation in law enforcement. He completed 20 years of service with the New York City Police Department and retired in 2001 with the rank of Detective 2nd Grade. Following that, he became a special investigator for the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office for 16 years. During his tenure, his fellow Investigators elected him to represent them as their union vice president. In his 36 years of law enforcement, he has been recognized with numerous awards and citations including eleven letters of Commendation from the FBI and 23 awards for exceptional police work.

A strong believer in volunteerism and giving back to the community, Mr. Caroleo has served 51 years in the North Babylon Volunteer Fire Department and remains actively involved. He was elected by his peers to serve on the Executive Board of the fire department for 29 years, holding the positions of trustee, vice president, and six years as president, an accomplishment that no other member has attained in the department’s 89-year history.

In 2007, then Governor Elliot Spitzer, appointed Mr. Caroleo to the Farmingdale College Council. During his 18 years as a Council member, he has seen the College grow and excel as an academic institution, in addition to the remarkable modernization of campus infrastructure. He is proud to be a member of the Farmingdale Family.

Mr. Caroleo is 70-year resident of the hamlet of North Babylon where he lives with his wife of 45 years and raised three now-grown children who are all professionals in their own right.
