Randi Shubin

Under Randi Shubin Dresner's leadership, Island Harvest Food Bank has made significant strides in its mission to create a hunger-free Long Island. She leads a team with a shared vision, committed to investigating and addressing the root causes of poverty, hunger, and food insecurity. Their work results in actionable, innovative programs that truly impact our community, instilling confidence in the organization's direction.  During Randis tenure, the organization achieved a consistent 18% growth in revenue, year-over-year.

In these past two decades, the organization has undergone several phases of transformational redirection of its work, including a bold, strategic rebranding. The context of this growth is based on the belief that hunger will not be solved by providing only food to neighbors in need. Despite distributing more than 21 million pounds of food across Long Island annually (supporting more than 17 million meals), the organization is determined to do more, forming and executing place-based strategies to tackle some of the most challenging roadblocks to end hunger. This includes forming robust advocacy efforts, the development of a Workforce Skills Development Institute, creation of a Food as Medicine nutrition program (working in collaboration with clinics/hospitals), short-term case management and referral services, and the management of an organic farm, greenhouse, and Giving Gardens across Long Island and initiating collaborative convenings. These initiatives have made a significant impact on our community, effectively addressing social drivers of health that impact the neighbors the organization serves.

Randi Shubin Dresner is a seasoned non-profit professional whose career is driven by meeting the needs of the community and raising requisite funds to identify communities in need, creating solutions to complicated service gaps and building innovative programs. She has worked at several prominent organizations such as The March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation, The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, The Viscardi Center, and The Heckscher Museum of Art.  She also served as a partner in a respected fund raising and development consulting firm.

And while she enjoys making slapshots at a NY Islanders game or the first pitch at a NY Mets game and hosted the podcast, CONVERSATIONS WITH RANDI SHUBIN DRESNER (which gave spotlight to people making a difference throughout the Long Island community) Randi is also proud to have been recognized with many prominent honors and awards. She is enriched by her service on various boards and councils and is a member of the Energeia Partnership, an ethical leadership academy. She was an adjunct faculty member at Long Island University and Molloy University for 25 years and was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws from St. Josephs College in 2013. Randi Shubin Dresner, is a lifelong resident of Long Island, NY.
