Prerequisite Guide
University in the High School (UHS) courses are college courses; therefore, all Farmingdale State College (FSC) course prerequisites apply.
Prerequisite requirements may be a standardized test score (i.e. NYS Regents Exam) or successful completion of another course.
A student registering for a UHS course with a prerequisite must upload documentation including the specific relevant information demonstrating that the prerequisite has been met (e.g., a transcript, a report card, a signed letter from an instructor, etc.). This documentation must be in PDF format. See 鈥淯niversity in the High School Courses with Test Score Prerequisites鈥� below for further details regarding specific course prerequisites.
Students will not be registered for UHS courses without verification that they have met the prerequisite requirement(s). In addition, students/instructors/administrators may be asked to provide additional information in the form of standardized test reports or of college transcripts as further evidence that the prerequisite(s) have been met.
FSC academic departments reserve the right to override course prerequisites, if/when appropriate for a particular student. This is consistent with on-campus practice.
Documentation Checklist
Before registering for a UHS course, a student should ensure that they have sufficient documentation to demonstrate that any prerequisites have been met. This documentation should:
- 鈥ome from an official source (e.g., a transcript, a report card, a signed letter from an instructor, etc.).
- 鈥how clear proof that the student has met the prerequisite
- 鈥e legible, with any relevant information highlighted
- 鈥e ready to upload in PDF format
Note: If a student does not have access to documentation that meets the first three criteria above, they may use the University in the High School Prerequisite Signature Letter. Students should circle the course(s) that they are registering for, and fill in any required information to demonstrate that they meet the prerequisite. Before the form is submitted, it should be signed by the student and an instructor or school administrator.
