STEP Academies

STEP students can participate in experiential, learning-based academies. Academies take place during the fall, spring, and summer times. Please refer to the information below, and feel free to contact the Director for more information.

 

 

Summer 2025 Academies

We are excited to be back for the Summer! Here are the details, from dates to class offerings, and registration.

 

Academy Dates

Academies will take place from:

• July 14th - July 17th
• July 21st - July 24th 

 

Bus Information

There is no transportation offered for the summer academy.

 

Class Offerings

Automotive Engineering	Ever wonder what really goes on under the hood of a car? In this class, you’ll get a closer look at how engines run, what makes wheels turn, and why cars work the way they do. From basic parts to big systems, you’ll explore the machines we ride in every day. Come ready to learn, explore, and get your hands a little dirty! Week of July 14– 17. Class will meet 9:00am-3:00pm.
Marine Biology	Dive into the world beneath the waves! In this class, you’ll explore amazing ocean creatures, learn how marine ecosystems work, and discover how life survives in the deep sea. From coral reefs to sharks, there’s always something new to uncover. Whether you're dreaming of being a marine scientist or just love the ocean, this hands-on adventure is for you! Week of July 14– 17. Class will meet 9:00am-3:00pm.
Cyber Security	Think you’re safe online? Think again! In this class, you’ll uncover the secrets of hackers, learn how to protect your data, and explore how the internet really works. From cracking codes to spotting scams, you’ll gain real-world skills to stay safe in the digital world. It’s like becoming a tech detective—only cooler. Week of July 21—24. Class will meet 9:00am-3:00pm.
Soar and Explore: The Ultimate Helicopter Challenge!	Ready to take off? In this hands-on class, you’ll build your very own rubber band-powered helicopter and learn the science that makes it fly. Explore how lift, thrust, and torque work—all while testing, tweaking, and launching your creations into the air. It’s creativity, engineering, and flight—all rolled into one  awesome project! Week of July 21—24. Class will meet 9:00am-3:00pm.
