Brightspace Resources
Desire2Learn’s Brightspace is 51³Ô¹Ï’s official Learning Management System (LMS). This learning platform is designed to facilitate online and in-person education that instructors use to share course content such as the syllabi, assignments, grades, and more. It provides a user-friendly interface enhancing the users learning experience and improving student engagement within courses. The Office of Distance Learning has achieved a smooth transition from Blackboard to incorporate Brightspace with ease and efficiency.
If you're experiencing issues with your Brightspace account, it’s important to address
the problem as soon as possible to avoid disruptions in your learning. Whether you're
unable to log in, access course materials, or encounter other technical difficulties,
it can often be resolved with a bit of support. See below for some solutions to common
problems to get things back on track and ensure you’re able to continue your coursework
without delays.

Referring to students and employees by a chosen name in classrooms, the workplace, and when interacting with college personnel, supports a welcoming and respectful learning and working environment. The reasons for selecting a chosen name are personal and different for each person.
Students and employees at FSC may identify themselves using a chosen first name that differs from their legal name. A student or employee's chosen name will appear in select College-related systems and documents instead of the person's legal name, as noted below:
- FSC ID Cards - (both legal and preferred first name will be visible)
- Email address and display
- Brightspace
- Class rosters and grade rosters
- Advising screens - (degree audit and other advising systems)
- Directory listings - (telephone, online, hard copy)
- Email list listserv interface
- Campus registration and password expiration reset
FSC encourages students and employees to use a chosen name other than their legal name to identify themselves if they wish. For more information on how to do so, visit the Registrar's webpage.
