BUS 395 - Creativity and Innovation
(August 1-16, 2026)

Explore Finland in Summer 2026 with Prof. Jing Betty Feng. Join us for a two-week journey in the world’s happiest country, celebrated for its leadership in sustainability, innovation, and education. This overseas program, BUS 395  - Creativity and Innovation, begins in Helsinki with iconic experiences such as the Oodi Library, the Löyly public sauna, and a day trip to the UNESCO-listed archipelago. Continue to Vaasa, a center for renewable energy and circular economy initiatives, where you’ll tour companies like West Energy and The Switch, explore cultural heritage sites, and enjoy authentic Finnish traditions. The program concludes with participation in the University of Vaasa Summer School on Entrepreneurship and Venturing, where students will develop their own social venture projects in collaboration with peers from diverse fields and universities, applying sustainability and innovation concepts in an international, interdisciplinary setting.

The cost of tuition, housing, excursions, insurance will be determined by Sept. 2025. 

Eligibility and information:

  • Open to students of any Major
  • GPA Requirement: 2.75 or higher
  • Good disciplinary standing
  • Rolling admission until places are filled. Upon acceptance you will be asked for a $500 deposit to guarantee your place (January 31 deadline)

Bio: Jing Betty Feng, Ph.D., is a Professor of International Business at 51³Ô¹Ï (SUNY). She earned her BA and MBA from Michigan State University and her Ph.D. from Georgia State University. Dr. Feng teaches courses in International Business, International Management, Global Strategy, and Creativity and Innovation. Dr. Feng came to academia after seven years of industry experience in supply chain management in global firms such as Dell and Whirlpool.

Her research investigates the dynamics of global business through a focus on intercultural interactions, sustainable internationalization, and the evolving relationship between technology and human behavior. She is particularly interested in how cultural values influence decision-making at both individual and organizational levels. Her work has been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Business Research, International Journal of Cross-Cultural Management, and Management and Organization Review. She has also authored several white papers supporting international engagement for local businesses and contributing to economic development in the Long Island region. She has served on the leadership team for the Academy of International Business Teaching and Education Shared Interest Group and as an editorial board member for the Journal of Business Research and EIX – Entrepreneur & Innovation Exchange.

Beyond research, Dr. Feng is passionate about student learning through real-world problem-solving. She previously served as a faculty advisor for the NYS Business Plan Competition and the International Business Club. Currently, she organizes the annual Innovation Challenge to promote multidisciplinary collaboration and creativity among students, while mentoring undergraduates for internships and research opportunities. Her commitment to experiential learning has been recognized through numerous awards and grants that support public interest projects and community-focused initiatives.
