About the Study Abroad Office
VISION. In keeping with FSC as a college of applied science and technology dedicated to student success through applied learning, the Study Abroad Office strives to cultivate a new generation of global learners who seek to change their world.
MISSION. FSC’s Study Abroad Office supports the college’s commitment to student-centered learning and inclusiveness that prepares graduates to be exemplary citizens equipped to excel in a competitive, diverse, and technologically dynamic society. We accomplish this by offering transformative educational opportunities abroad and fostering an environment of global learning on campus.
VALUE.
- Transformative experiences that open students to the world and to themselves
- Instructs an understanding of and fosters empathy toward other people and cultures
- Contributes toward a culture of global learning at FSC
- Expands the culture of inclusion at FSC
- Contributes toward developing a segment of the workforce involving international exchanges and collaborations
- Assists with FSC meeting Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) accreditation standards I, III, IV, and V and departmental accreditation such as ABET Student Outcomes.
To achieve its Vision and Mission, the Study Abroad Office develops and maintains partnerships with academic institutions outside the USA in order to provide outstanding educational opportunities for our students. In addition to offering traditional semester abroad experiences, we work with FSC professors to develop exceptional Faculty-Led programs, which take place in the Winter and Summer sessions. FSC Study Abroad programs are promoted on the website and through events held on campus and online. We advise and steward students at every stage of their journey from initial inquiries through pre-departure orientation and during their time abroad. When students return to campus, they are invited to partcipate in FSC's Global Learning Environment.
The Study Abroad Office is led by Eric De Sena
The Office is supported by the Advisory Committee for Study Abroad (ACSA)
Each semester we hire a small number of students who have studied abroad in order to assist with the promotion of overseas opportunities: Global Ambassadors
