World Class Seminar in Ghana

FSC is pleased to offer a Faculty Led Course in Ghana
(tentative dates, Dec. 19, 2025 - January 3, 2026)
 

Join Prof. Kwame Insaidoo Jr. (Office of EOP and Dept. of History, Geography, and Politics) on a transformative, short-term seminar in southern Ghana. Based in the capital city of Accra, the seminar (HIS 319 - Ghanaian Culture & Society) is designed to provide students with a holistic understanding of Ghana’s history, politics, society, and culture while fostering global perspectives and cross-cultural collaboration. 

You will explore the public areas, monuments, and museums in Accra with excursions to the Elmina and Cape Coast Castles, Kakum National Park, and other locations, such as outdoor markets and craft workshops. This is a comprehensive initiative designed to provide students with an unparalleled opportunity for academic enrichment, cultural immersion, and personal growth.

Scholarships:

  • Students who receive Pell awards are eligible for the (early March 2026 deadline)

Eligibility and information:

  • For SUNY students in any major
  • GPA Requirement: 2.75
  • Good disciplinary standing
  • Rolling admission until places are filled. Upon acceptance you will be asked for a $500 deposit to guarantee your place (October 15 deadline)
  • HIS 319 (Ghanaian Culture and Society - 3 credits) satifies a SUNY General Education-Arts and Liberal Arts elective requirement, and it is a FSC DEISJ designated course
