Summer 2026 in Taiwan!

FSC is pleased to offer a Faculty Led Course in Taiwan!
MLG 321 - Chinese Culture and Civilization
(Tentative dates: May 30 - June 11, 2026)
 

Explore Taiwan in Summer 2026 with Prof. Qing Ai (Dept. Modern Languages). Immerse yourself in Chinese culture, society, entertainment and food as you study Chinese Culture and Civilization (MLG 321). You'll stay in the beautiful and technologically-advanced city of Xinfeng, the home of our partner school, Minghsin University of Science and Technology. From here you will explore the cities of Taipei, Hsinchu, and Taichung where you will visit monuments, historical, and cultural places. One of the highlights, which will be especially interesting for Tech students, is a visit to the Innovation Museum of TSMC - Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company.

You can follow prof. Ai on an optional 3-day trip to Tokyo (at an additional cost). 

Cost for tuition, housing, excursions, insurance for the academic program in Taiwan is $2385. The cost of the optional visit to Tokyo is $500. 

Scholarships:

  • Students who receive Pell awards are eligible for the (early March 2026 deadline)

Eligibility and information:

  • For SUNY students in any major
  • GPA Requirement: 2.75
  • Good disciplinary standing
  • Rolling admission until places are filled. Upon acceptance you will be asked for a $500 deposit to guarantee your place (February 15 deadline)
  • MLG 321 (Chinese Culture and Civilization - 3 credits) satifies a SUNY General Education-Arts and Liberal Arts elective requirement, and it is a FSC DEISJ designated course 

Bio.: Dr. Qing Ai received her BAs and MA from Peking University and a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. She teaches Spanish, Mandarin, and a variety of culture, literature, and cinema courses in the related fields. A native of Beijing, Prof. Ai enjoys exploring worldwide cultures by traveling to different countries and regions. She studied abroad two times in Spain while in college, and is looking forward to exploring Asia this time with students. The cartoon selfie is taken at the Continental Divide, Costa Rica.
