About the Vice President of Student Affairs
Dr. Ronald C. Jackson is the Vice President for Student Affairs at Farmingdale State College State College (FSC). The Vice President for Student Affairs oversees the Colleges expanding student life initiatives, including the Dean of Students Office, Student Activities, Residence Life, Health and Wellness Center, Disability Services Center, Veterans Services, Title IX, and Campus Mental Health Services, among other student-focused programs.
Dr. Jackson joined FSC in 2025 from Brooklyn College, part of the City University of New York (CUNY), where he most recently served as Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students. He also held Dean of Students appointments at the Community College of Philadelphia and Marymount Manhattan College. His earlier experience includes positions as Manager of Student Development and Activities at Columbia University and Resident Director at William Paterson University.
Originally from Southfield, MI, Dr. Jackson has over 25 years of progressively responsible supervisory and administrative experience in the field of Higher Education. Dr. Jackson earned a bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He also received a master's degree in Higher Education Administration from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and a Doctor of Education degree in Higher Education Management from the University of Pennsylvania where his dissertation topic was, Moving Beyond the Margins: An Exploration of Low Performing African American Male College Students at High Performing Institutions.
As the Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Jackson is responsible for the development and management of a comprehensive student life program for the Division of Student Affairs. Focused on enhanced services for students, ongoing and intentional assessment and improved fiscal management, Dr. Jackson has successfully developed and implemented data-driven programs and initiatives that align with and support the institutions educational mission and vision. Prior to coming to FSC, he has successfully obtained grant funds to establish a Center for Male Engagement, a Veterans Resource Center, and the Homeless Student Support Project at the Community College of Philadelphia and a Food Pantry and Immigrant Student Success Office at Brooklyn College to assist these populations in achieving personal and academic goals. In addition to his on-campus work, Dr. Jackson served on the Executive Council of the American College Personnel Association (ACPA) and has held various other leadership positions within the association. In 2025, he received the ACPA Diamond Honoree Award, a program which provides recognition of colleagues who have made outstanding contributions to ACPA, student affairs and services, and higher education. He is also a member of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA). Dr. Jackson has lifetime memberships in the University of Michigan Alumni Association and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Dr. Jackson is also an avid runner and triathlete.
