Eric Farina
Eric Farina is the Director of Veteran's Affairs at 51³Ô¹Ï. Upon graduation from Manhasset High School, he enlisted in the Army Reserve, then the Regular Army. Eric served in West Germany as a Military Policeman at the end of the Cold War. After his discharge, he returned to college and received his BA in History from CW Post.
He then moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he was a public-school teacher for eight years while earning an MA in military history from American Public University. While in Georgia, Eric re-enlisted in the National Guard as an Airborne Infantryman at the age of 34. Eric returned to Long Island in 2005, where he received a full-time appointment as the training NCO of company B of the famous Fighting 69th Infantry.
As a rifle squad leader, he served a tour in Afghanistan assigned to the 2nd squadron, 101st Cavalry. He has a total of 20 years military service in all components of the US Army: Regular, Reserve, National Guard and The Active Guard-Reserve program, including 15 years in the 69th Infantry. Eric taught as an adjunct professor of history at Suffolk Community College and 51³Ô¹Ï, and has served the student veteran community at 51³Ô¹Ï since 2011.
