Frank Rampello

Frank Rampello holds a Master's in Liberal Studies from Queens College, where his work focused on 19th-century American literature and 18th-century German philosophy. His graduate research explored how minority groups of exceptional cohesion – those unwilling to assimilate or conform – are represented through the lens of writers like James Fenimore Cooper and Nathaniel Hawthorne. These studies shaped his enduring interest in how societies navigate belonging and difference, reinforcing his empathy and commitment to the students and families he serves.

At 51³Ô¹Ï, where he has dedicated nearly 17 years to Student Affairs, Frank has focused his career on fostering a healthy, supportive, and inclusive campus environment. He played a key role in expanding the residential population during a post-pandemic period of re-growth, helping to revitalize campus life, establish new traditions, and create lifelong memories, including campus visits from Terry Crews, Eli Manning, Giancarlo Esposito, George Takei, and Brian Baumgartner.

His contributions span multiple departments and have earned him election by colleagues to key campus bodies including the Student Affairs and Services Committee, the Curriculum Committee, and the Multicultural Committee. He was promoted to the rank of Adjunct Assistant Professor in the English Department, where he taught for nine years, before winning the Campus CARES Award and joining the College's executive leadership team in 2020.

Frank has also led campus-wide programs addressing domestic and dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking, including It’s On Us, the Clothesline Project, and SUNY's Got Your Back. He directs initiatives aimed at curbing underage drinking and drug use, having personally authored the $625,000 New York State grant proposal that funded FSC's inaugural Environmental Prevention Program. As co-chair of the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Team (ADAPT), he helps strengthen external partnerships with organizations such as the Family Service League, NYS's Campus Sexual Assault Victims Unit, and the Crime Victims Center.

A student advocate at heart, and a former Dean of Students during the COVID-19 pandemic, Frank believes that success requires sacrifice and that improving the lives of those around you is the most powerful marker of achievement.
